Mycotoxin Sampling
On December 10, 2014, PMIL hosted a webinar at North Carolina State University with Tom Whitaker and Andrew Slate presenting the fundamentals of their research. Whitaker’s research divides the testing process into three steps: sampling, sample preparation and analysis. Their results show that, depending on the sampling protocol, more than 80% of the variance is accounted for in the sampling and less than 5% is related to the actual analytical method. While testing is always a balance between cost and accuracy, this evidence suggests greater focus on sampling and sample preparation, rather than analytical methods.
First in the series of three videos, PMIL Mycotoxin Webinar: Part 1 Designing Mycotoxin Sampling Plans is part of an aflatoxin sampling webinar explaining sampling techniques used by Tom Whitaker and Andrew Slate. The seminar was held in Raleigh, NC, USA in December 2014.
Second in the series of three videos, PMIL Mycotoxin Webinar: Part 2 Representative Sampling for Mycotoxins is part of an aflatoxin sampling webinar explaining sampling techniques used by Tom Whitaker and Andrew Slate. The seminar was held in Raleigh, NC, USA in December 2014.
Third in the series of three videos, PMIL Mycotoxin Webinar: Part 3 FAO Mycotoxin Sampling Toolis part of an aflatoxin sampling webinar explaining sampling techniques used by Tom Whitaker and Andrew Slate. The seminar was held in Raleigh, NC, USA in December 2014.
