Dr. Guwela serves as the in-country manager for the Innovation Lab’s portfolio of agronomy projects in Malawi. She holds a dual PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics and Crop and Soil Sciences through a joint program between University of Nottingham and Rothamsted Research in the UK, and Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Malawi.

An experienced leader working with different international research institutions and universities, Dr. Guwela specializes in agriculture research for development, seed systems, agronomy, capacity building, agroecology, private sector engagement, and plant breeding.
